Frequently Asked Questions about Intensive Sessions

  • An intensive condenses weeks or months of therapy into a focused timeframe. It allows us to stay in the work without the usual stop/start rhythm of weekly sessions. It’s ideal for specific goals, stuck points, or when you’re ready for real momentum.

  • That’s totally welcome—and actually pretty common.

Intensives can be a powerful way to complement the work you’re already doing with your primary therapist. We’ll focus on a specific issue or stuck point, then create a clear plan to help you integrate that work back into your ongoing therapy.

With your consent, I’m also happy to collaborate with your current therapist to make sure the process is supportive and aligned. You don’t have to choose between us—we can work as a team.

  • Yes—virtual intensives are just as effective and can even feel more comfortable for some clients. We use video and bilateral stimulation adapted for online sessions, and I’ll walk you through how to set up your space for the best experience.

  • Yes—and in many cases, it’s encouraged. Scheduling one or more individual sessions beforehand gives us time to get to know each other, build trust, and prepare your nervous system for the deeper work we’ll be doing in the intensive.

These sessions are a chance to go over your history, clarify goals, and introduce resourcing tools so you feel grounded and supported going in. They’re not required for everyone, but they can make the experience feel more connected and effective.

  • Yes. Integration is part of the plan. We’ll schedule a follow-up session or create a post-intensive plan based on your needs. You won’t be left hanging.

  • That’s okay. Part of our pre-intensive consult is clarifying your focus. You don’t need to have it all figured out—just a sense that you’re ready to do the work.

  • That’s actually part of the process. If a memory, emotion, or part surfaces that you weren’t expecting, we’ll work with it gently and at your pace. Nothing you bring is too much.

  • It’s a common fear, and we take care to go at your nervous system’s pace. The structure of the intensive includes grounding, breaks, and resourcing so you’re not just “diving in and staying under.” You’ll leave feeling supported—not flooded.

  • Not at all. A lot of the work we do is internal—through EMDR, parts work, and resourcing. There will be conversation, but there’s also plenty of space for reflection, silence, and emotional processing without pressure.

  • No. Some clients come to me specifically for an intensive without prior therapy experience. Others are already in weekly therapy and want to go deeper or move through something that feels stuck. I’m happy to collaborate with your current therapist if needed.
